Hi Mattie, first I put a fan by my bed and ran it on low. I slept in as little as possible. I took soy tablets and they seemed to work the best. I was also prescribed a antidepressant and since I have pain due to arthritis. It works out fine. I've made it past it but boy oh boy do I remember those days well. Peace to you

Hi there Mattie... I feel for you sister... Thank God I am finished with that nonsense... but I do have a few suggestions that might help... You know that this menopause thing can be quick for some and for others it can last a couple of years... I was fortunate and it only lasted for a year for me...I was going through the hot flashes for about 6 months and my only saving grace was that I lived in Canada in a very cold winter...brrrrr. it was great when I was having hot flashes... I would get one and go outside on the balcony in a -30 C and I swear I was melting the snow... but it did help... during the summer, I had to get a air conditioner and a fan to blow on me... and gave my husband lots of blankets to keep warm because I needed it as cold as possible... There are hormones that your Dr. can give you to help relieve the symptoms, but I didn't go that route because, i didn't like the thought of hormones still feeding on my change of life which was my belief that it would make it last longer, not shorten it... you can ask your Dr. about that as that it was just my opinion on the hormone treatment... I also felt depression and I couldn't sleep at night... my Dr. prescribed a low dose of antidepressant for me and was able to get something to help me sleep... I stopped taking these medications as my body changed enough that I didn't need them anymore... I can tell you, that being depressed and cranky was not me, and I hated it. Good luck... this is one of those things like having a baby, that we women must endure, but at least we can make ourselves more comfortable during the process with all the technology out there like air conditioners.... Vitamin D also helps with the depression... I call it my sunshine pill...!
