Members explored whether a laparoscopic adjustable gastric band can be done after a roux-en-y bypass, with one member sharing they are currently pursuing this option and waiting to meet with their surgeon once medical records from their original surgery are reviewed. Several members offered practical guidance on obtaining old medical records, including contacting the hospital directly for copies (even if it was bought out), requesting records be mailed or sent to a new surgeon, or reaching out to state public records departments that maintain patient treatment databases. A recurring theme was the acknowledgment that all weight loss surgeries are tools requiring lifelong commitment to diet and exercise changes, with members candidly sharing their own struggles with weight regain, thyroid issues, and the frustration of weight that seems impossible to lose despite their best efforts.

My problem is not that simple. I cannot eat large amounts and I do not graze. I had my thyroid removed 10 years ago and that's when the gain started. The only way I lose weight is to not eat at all!

The lap band is only a tool. Like all WLS just a tool. And if u don't use them the way they r designed u will gain weight. You have to start with your mindset. U got to say goodbye to some foods that have caused u to gain weight. If u don't then u will remain overweight. Follow a meal plan high protein low carb and start a exercising and drink lots of water. U don't need a surgery to do that. Bless your journey.

@A MyObesityTeam Member:

I also have a non-functioning thyroid for years which and you're right, it can add a lot of weight that seems to stick like glue the older I get.

They certainly arent. I had the bypass and gained back 60 lbs. Must be a lifetime change.
