A MyObesityTeam Member asked a question 💭

Do you have Osteoarthritis and are overweight ? Did you develop Osteoarthritis because of your weight ? Or do you are overweight because you have Osteoarthritis??Do you follow any diets? Does people think you fake been in pain ? How about your balance?

The I haven't been diagnosed with arthritis but I believe I have it. I was told years ago that the cartilage in my knees is shot. My knees pain me all the time. More so when the weather changes. In order to do anything around the house I do a little, rest a little, repeat. My knees hurt if I am up to long and they get stiff when I sit to long. I do lose my balance when I off my feet for awhile and the knees are stiff. I have found that if I keep moving regular and don't let the lead in my butt get to heavy my knees do better. If I am full of energy (like today) and do a lot then I take an Aleve. I have mentioned it to the doctor and he shrugs it off to me being obese. I work through it on a daily basis. Just remember that for every pound lost is four pounds of pressure off your knees. Through God all things are possible.

Just take it slow at first! Do what your body allows you to do. Walking, light stretching, hang on to a door frame and wiggle! Sounds stupid but sometimes it works! I have heard from all over that if you have arthritis you need to keep moving...I agree, but sometime you just can't. The next day or whenever you are feeling better, start moving again! Even just walking on a treadmill I have to hang on to the sides for dear life! A BIG tip...Don't be negative or beat yourself up if you can't do something just feel good about the times that you could move!

@A MyObesityTeam Member I also can't walk like I used to , but like you I use a cane and some days I rely on a walker to release pressure from my joints, I am always in pain but I push myself through it , and I am always researching for ways to improve my quality of life and for ways to learn more about Osteoarthritis and what can I do to be more active...

i have OA and being over-weight, i have no idea which came first....lol.....right now am trying to find the "right" diet as i have other issues to consider and so far no one has made any comments in a bad way about my health issues....my balance has always been "off" that could be due to my hypothyroid condition.....
