Except psyllium is just fiber. It's not a medication. It is a supplement that can help correct the lack of fiber most of us suffer from eating the S.A.D. If you don't have intestinal blockages and aren't allergic to psyllium, you should be fine using it according to directions.

Note: It's best that you don't use psyllium within two hours of taking any meds you may be on, as they may not be absorbed properly.

I have heard of other natural supplements that supposedly increase energy, which may be helpful in upping one's activity level to lose weight. Bee pollen, royal jelly (also from bees), ginseng and gotu kola.
But they aren't marketed for weight loss.

Definitely have blood work done to check your B vitamins, particularly B12, iron and electrolyte levels. Deficiencies can make you wicked tired, and a lot of us eat poorly in those circumstances.

I would suggest talking to a doctor or someone that specializes in weight loss. You have to be really careful of all the fads and gimmicks out there. Most are just temporary at best. And you generally are not losing fat stores, but water and muscle weight. And laxatives, etc can really wreak havoc on your intestines and colon. Causing ulcerations, polyps, and bleeding. Not to mention the terrible cramps and pains. Doing this will drain your body of all need nutrients, leaving you sickly and drained of energy. Because you will also be depleting your body of sodium and potassium. Wreaking your electrolyte balance. You will feel dizzy and light headed...and if too depleted, most likely faint. And end up in the E.R. with and I.V. And if you are always hungry now, believe me you will be starving by un-normal bowel elimination. Most people don't need a cleaning out if you have normal bowel movements. Please don't even consider this. The most healthy and effective way to loose weight is to cut the sweet drinks, sweets, sugar, pasta, white flour, and grains. Eat lots of vegetables, fatty red meat and dark chicken. Use whole milk not low fat or skim. Can have cheese and unsweetened yogurt. I add the berries to my yogurt with some nuts. Can have fruit and berries of all kinds are best. Check out the Keto Diet . It is unfortunate that we often get desperate in our quest for rapid weight loss. But many already have enough illnesses such as diabetes, heart issues, high blood pressure, etc. And I guarantee if you try what is suggested you will only make these issues much worse. Most of us already have some bad eating habits. Not good to add another bad habit. Do your research and educate yourself . You owe it to yourself to keep healthy. Blessings .
