Has anyone had the lap band? I'm going to a seminar for it next month. Still on the fence but willing to look into it.

Members overwhelmingly discouraged lap band surgery based on their own experiences with complications, sharing stories of bands slipping, eroding into the stomach, causing bleeding and infections, and ultimately requiring removal after years of struggle. Many members who had lap bands removed went on to have gastric sleeve or bypass surgery with much better results, noting that the sleeve is safer, requires fewer follow-up appointments, and produces more sustainable weight loss without the constant risk of mechanical failure. A recurring theme was that while the lap band worked temporarily for some, the high rate of complications and subsequent weight regain made permanent procedures like the sleeve or bypass the stronger recommendation from those who had lived through both experiences.

I got a lap band in 2006. It didn't decrease my hunger - it just made me throw up eating certain things. It did give me signals to stop eating. It let me eat unhealthy things but not healthy. for example meat, eggs and some veg. were impossible. I would look at gastric bypass or the sleeve now. There are so much safer now and less invasive than they were.

I found this wonderful site with people who are having and had surgery. A lot have said lap band is bad and not performed much anymore.

I have. It was good for about 6 months and then downhill. After many complications, I had it removed and did the sleeve. Have you researched the sleeve?
I also know several others that have had major issues with the band.
