Vegetables and fruits are a very healthy source of food. If at normal weight, one can eat any kind and should. But for weight loss it depends on what vegetables and fruit is best. For stricter best to stick to only veggies grown above the ground. Meaning ones like squash, broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower, greens such as lettuce, cabbage, spinach, etc. You can eat lots of these kinds to help fill up on and you don't need to count calories or carbs. Root veggies are highest in carbs and calories. The more you eat of these, the more carbs and calories you add to the diet. Also same with fruit. If one does want to eat root veggies, best to eat the less starchy ones. Such a sweet potato instead of the white potato. Actually, citrus fruit is lower in carbs and sugar than some of the other fruits. Watermelon and apples are worse than the oranges. Watermelon high in sugar. The majority of fruit is high in sugar. Common sense we all know..cut out the sugar. Bananas are healthy fruit ,full of potassium, etc. But high in carbs. Carbs are what really piles the weight on us. Such as those starchy root veggies and pasta, etc. Starch raises insulin levels same as sugar does. Our bodies treat it the same way.The best fruit to eat for weight loss are berries of all kinds. I like buying plain Greek yogurt and adding berries to it. People may be surprised to know it is just fine to eat real butter while dieting. It is a healthy fat that our bodies need to help burn calories, etc. Just avoid margarine as that is not the healthy kind of fat. Heathy sources of fat we need is in sardines, tuna, salmon, etc. And avocadoes, nuts, olives, etc. Don't use cooking oils such as vegetable or canola oil. Best to use olive, coconut oil or real butter. . So go ahead and use butter on your popcorn. I have even made Keto Butter coffee by adding some butter to it. Helps reave up the metabolism. Oh I might add that frozen berries and vegetables are just as healthy as fresh. Actually, better as picked when fresh and not exposed to many elements as fresh vegetables are. Organic is healthier but makes no difference for weight loss if one is on a food budget. And best for losing weight is to avoid high carb foods that we all know and love to eat. Meaning pasta, rice, bread, etc. Keep in mind eating healthy is one thing, eating to lose weight is another. But can combine a bit if you eat in moderation and keep portions small. Depending on how much weight I want to lose at any given time depends on what I cut down on or out, and what I add .Cutting down means I sub a lot but still enjoy things I like. Substituting cauliflower rice for regular rice, zucchini noodles for pasta, etc. Adding would also mean some lentils, beans, and a high grain bread, etc. Sorry, for long winded but wanted to share so hope this is helpful.

Shari, do veggies help? Fruits like apples or watermelon have fiber & water and are filling but I'd avoid grapes and bananas or at least eat with caution. Some things, like oranges, are water and some fiber but a LOT of sugar. Celery is crunchy and you can add a little salt. Popcorn, I use Pam instead of butter and it tastes great. Sometimes I add ranch mix, the powder. I wish I could be more help

Hi . You should ask your dr to change medications because of the weight gain. Having excess weight caused by meds would give me anxiety. Can you take your meds at a different time, like at bedtime? If you can take the meds at night, maybe that will help you to be active during the day so the meds might not affect you negatively so much.. and excess weight, we know it causes a lot of other issues as well. While you’re brushing your teeth, do some squats. There’s a few apps that have wall exercises that you may benefit from. Hope this helps… and consistency is key to weight loss.

Wow! You probably would want to ask if you could be switched to a different one that doesn't cause you to gain weight.

That is frustrating. I have the same issue. When I get depressed I get anxious and can't eat there for I have to take medication and the opposite of this happens.
