I find it easier to look at it as one meal at a time. If you lose control at lunch, don't throw the whole day away. Take back control and do better at dinner. We all struggle with food, that's why we're here. If it was easy we'd all be 110 and healthy! (And stick figures lol) The hard fact is, food tastes good and we like food! We have to find the balance between what is healthy, sustainable and the right portion for losing weight for our situation. Be kinder to yourself but be a boss. Don't go so easy that you let yourself off the hook for every slip-up that you just give up. Own your thoughts! If you find yourself thinking about food, change your thoughts! Trust me, I'm preaching to myself here, too!
Thank you
Take it one day at a time one slip up doesn't mean have to rein the whole day just continue with the next meal and then it'll all work out in the end and stay consistent try doing meal prep or you can journal it helps a lot I make a menu and follow a menu and a grocery list as well but everyone has there own preference
We all need to get back on the bandwagon and do it together. We're all here to help one another.
I totally agree with Karen and Carol. Don't quit over a bad eating day. You are not a failure unless you totally give up. Going off track once in a while is being normal and human. Just keep your chin up and climb back up again. No weight loss journey is all completely perfect. There are going to be good days and bad days. If you are finding it too hard to adhere to your diet, it is likely it is not realistic for you. Main reasons most diets do not work. They are too restrictive and hard to stay on long term. Concentrate more on counting calories, reducing portion sizes and eat what you want once in a while but in moderation. I reached a goal weight that I am happy with and have not totally given up any foods I like. So, I don't actually ever go off track, cheat or have cheat meals. Thus, I have no guilt days. Yes, I drank a soda, eat a piece of cake, a few cookies, etc. or even have a fast-food meal. And that is okay, as I don't eat like this every day. I save it mainly as a treat, etc. I do mostly healthy eating for long term lifestyle. I really cut down on my portion sizes and limit sweets more and always conscious when it comes too many calories and high carb foods. It sometimes takes a bit of experimenting to find a "food plan" that works for you. I don't like the term diets as I think of it negatively as something that does not work. I have yet to hear someone say I have been on this diet for over 10 yrs and it is working great for me. Unless of course, they are talking about the Mediterranean Diet pr something similar. Being a vegan, vegetarian, etc. Which is what my eating plan is based on. For food addicts one needs an eating plan that can stay on forever. Unlike being a drug addict or alcoholic, we cannot totally give up food. That is why we have to find a way to eat long term without piling the weight back on. Or having to constantly intermittent diet. Those quick fix diets are harder to stick to and once going off, people just gain back the weight again. My advice...don't get back on your diet. It evidently is not working for you so stop keeping on making the same mistakes and beating yourself over it. Try something different. Good luck to you.
