I find foods that help get over a craving. Like spaghetti. Since I live alone I will make a boneless, skinless chicken breast with sauce an a sprinkle of low fat cheese to top it off. Eating that with my favorite salad fills that craving. Chocolate is another. OMG I love chocolate! I found these Great Value Fiber Brownies that are to die for but also help clean out my digestive system. Salty snacks are also a munchie for me so I have been eating popcorn or nuts. It gets me away from chips,
I love pasta not so much rice but I do love the pasta I still eat it in moderation and I use cauliflower rice if I want the rice I wasn't a big fan of rice my mother fix it all the time when we were coming up I guess maybe that's why I do love fixing spaghetti squash and I make that my making my own sauce and adding it to the spaghetti squash it's really good
I'm finding that I don't crave as much pasta as I use to since I've had my surgery. I eat it maybe twice a month or as I have a taste for it.
@A MyObesityTeam Member Sounds delicious! 🍝 Spaghetti squash with homemade sauce is such a smart and tasty swap, and cauliflower rice is a great way to enjoy “rice” without feeling weighed down. Love how you’re finding creative ways to still enjoy the foods you love in moderation 💛
I love food ! Especially rice and pasta. I married a second-generation Italian. Married for 42yrs, now widowed for 15yrs . My son even actually got married in Tuscany, Italy. So, I was always exposed to lots of Italian food. But unfortunately, these two types of foods are usually carb loaded. Losing weight is hard enough, but giving up food we love makes it nearly impossible to maintain long term. But along my weight loss journey, I have learned a few helpful and healthier ways to still enjoy food by just making subs with healthier ingredients. So I still enjoy eating dishes that call for rice and pasta. But sub many rice dishes with cauliflower rice or with quinoa.
And many pasta dishes can be subbed with zucchini, wheat or other types of pasta other that the white flour types. Lots of lower carb pasta available. And I found a good spaghetti and marina sauce made without sugar and lower in carbs and calories....RAO'S. It has actually been kind of fun trying out new foods and recipes. Do admit easier to do when like me, one lives alone and don't have to cook/please anyone else. But I have made these lower carb lower calorie dishes for company, and they really liked it. Got a few even hooked. One secret I found is when making pasta such as spaghetti, it tastes better the second day warmed up. The noodles then have more time to take on more of the taste of the sauce. I also make delicious pasta salads, etc.
