Why do you feel like you never get enough food?

Feeling like you never get enough food can happen for several reasons. Your body might be sending hunger signals even when you've eaten, or you might be eating for emotional reasons rather than physical hunger.

Common reasons include:

* Stress and emotions - Stress, boredom, frustration, or tiredness can trigger cravings and make you want to eat even when you're not physically hungry
* Not enough sleep - Poor sleep increases the hunger hormone ghrelin and decreases leptin, the hormone that helps you feel full
* Eating too quickly - It takes up to 20 minutes for your body to signal fullness, so if you eat fast, you might miss those cues
* Not recognizing hunger cues - You might not be tuning into what your body is actually telling you about hunger versus fullness

Try checking in with yourself:

Ask "Am I actually hungry, or am I eating to soothe, distract, or reward myself?" Physical hunger builds gradually and you feel satisfied when you eat. Emotional hunger comes on suddenly, often for specific foods, and can be hard to stop even when you're full.

Using a hunger scale (rating yourself 1-10) before eating can help you understand your body's signals better. Look for signs like an empty feeling in your stomach, trouble focusing, or low energy.

Many MyObesityTeam members share this challenge - you're definitely not alone in feeling this way.

Wow. I think part of my hunger is lack of hydration and my "meals" are small but I have to have 3. Also no snacks.

I drink half my body weight in water and I find that I'm less hungry I do eat my regular 2 meals daily and very seldom want a snack

For me sometimes it's because I don't drink enough water. If you don't drink much water, try having 8-16 oz when you're feeling hungry. Wait the 20 min and see if your still hungry, if you are then you should eat something.
