I have been taking a multilateral/multivitamin for years, B12 and K2+D3. I don’t have the issue of constipation but have a fiber supp just in case. I’m on the GLP1 for type 2 diabetes and help with weight loss.

What vitamins and supplements are recommended for someone on tirzepatide for weight loss and blood sugar management?

It sounds like a really thoughtful supplement routine is already in place! The multivitamin, B12, and K2+D3 combo is a solid foundation. Since tirzepatide can significantly reduce appetite, getting enough key nutrients becomes especially important. Research suggests that people on GLP-1 medications like tirzepatide often fall short on these key nutrients:

- Vitamin D ✓ (already covered with D3)
- Calcium
- Iron
- Magnesium
- Potassium
- Fiber ✓ (already covered)
- Protein (not a supplement per se, but worth prioritizing in meals)

One important concern with tirzepatide is muscle loss — studies found up to 40% of weight lost can come from lean muscle, not just fat. Keeping protein intake high is really key here. Working with a registered dietitian alongside the current supplement routine could be really valuable. They can check for any gaps specific to individual needs, especially since age and food access can affect what's needed most.

It's always worth running the full supplement list by a doctor too, to make sure everything works well together with tirzepatide.
