Being Yourself Is More Than Enough

Posted on May 14, 2018

"After years of feeling like I need to be better, stronger, healthier, and in control, I now know I am enough." -Member of MyObesityTeam

Members of MyObesityTeam experience the burden of obesity physically, emotionally, and psychologically. Sometimes we strive to appear "fine" as we navigate the stigma of obesity. Other times, we experience relief and support from peers who've been in our shoes.

"I'm getting out of the rat race. I'm not letting others hurt me anymore. I need to love myself. Hearing from others with obesity has taught me that I have to prioritize ME." -Member of MyObesityTeam

Here are recent conversations from MyObesityTeam:

"Made cards and visited with friends. Now I get to spend time with my handsome little grandson. I am so grateful to be alive and working to better my life and having support from others that have taken and are taking this journey."

"THOUGHT FOR TODAY...Take your foot off the gas and slow it down...In today's' world of instant gratification sometimes you just have to stop... Stop rushing through life.. Stop hurrying from point a to b ... Stop and enjoy the true treasures around you before they are gone...Some things you can never get back... So stop and enjoy them while you can..."

"Stay strong with commitments to yourself. Because when all is said and done, it is for you. Bettering yourself is a slow long journey with many hills, and dips. Keep your eye on the goal because if you achieve this, will enrich your life for your families too. One day at a time, one walk at a time."

Have you found yourself striving to appear as though you have it all together? Have you discovered ways to surround yourself with others who make you feel that you are more than enough? Share what you've learned in the comments below or directly on MyObesityTeam.com.

Wonderful Grammie, sounds like a plan. I'm trying to get something together for me.
