I've tried positive reinforcement, self pep talks, and picturing myself at a healthy weight and how much greater life will be then. I've tried holding myself accountable with friends and family. I've tried doing it for my kids, for my Love and for myself obviously. And I feel bad because I want to be around for the people I love but it's like they're not even enough motivation to keep me going. I have tried doing exercises I have found fun and diets that don't make me feel like I'm starving and… read more

What has helped me in the past is finding the one thing that will help you lose weight even if your not motivated. Several ways that worked for me was one joining the local church. They had an exercise room and we would challenge each other. It was fun! Also, I found these dance routines on You Tube for The Greatest Showman and they broke them down. I decided I want to try it and never thought of it as exercise because it was about learning the dance moves. My greatest motivator is not motivation it is music. I don't have to do anything except turn on music. That has me moving and moving helps lose weight. It may help you clean, exercise or simply just sing to brighten your mood. So, music is a motivator for me when I am not in the mood or I have that I don't care attitude.

Finding your personal "why" can be a powerful motivator. Instead of focusing solely on weight loss, try setting small, achievable goals that bring you joy and satisfaction. For example, one MyObesityTeam member found motivation in participating in races and events - even finishing last brought them pride because they gave it their all.

Consider focusing on activities you genuinely enjoy rather than viewing exercise as a chore. This could be walking, dancing, swimming, or playing with your kids. The key is choosing movement that feels good and naturally fits into your lifestyle. Try starting each morning by writing down a new reason for making healthy choices. As one MyObesityTeam member discovered, what started as thinking they'd only have three reasons turned into finding many motivating factors to stick with their plan.

Remember that this journey isn't linear - there will be ups and downs. Taking time to acknowledge your daily "little victories" can help build confidence and maintain momentum. Consider working with a nutritionist or dietitian who can provide professional guidance and accountability while helping you develop sustainable habits.

Put a picture of a dress you want to get into or it can be a certain style of clothing on your refrigerator & also a picture of it on your bathroom mirror, just put a picture in several places and constantly seeing your FAVORITE MOTIVATION will always be pushing & surrounding you and guiding you to stay focused

This is exactly how I feel as well. Some days I wake up feeling like I can conquer the world and I’ve got this and by the afternoon, I’ve thrown in the towel. Sometimes it’s days and sometimes it’s weeks, but I can never be consistent.

Wow I’ve asked that same question repeatedly. I don’t have the answer yet.
